50% Off Microsoft Certifications: Power BI (PL-300) and Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)

Through DataCamp, eligible students can get a 50% discount on Microsoft certification exams, including Microsoft PL-300: Power BI Data Analyst and Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900). The offer is available to students who access DataCamp through the GitHub Student Developer Pack.

How to get the discount

  1. Get the GitHub Student Developer Pack. Apply at education.github.com/pack with your student details.
  2. Create a free DataCamp account and claim the DataCamp offer from your GitHub Student Developer Pack. This gives you a free 3-month DataCamp premium subscription.
  3. Complete the track for the certification you want (details below).
  4. Receive your 50% discount code by email from DataCamp, then use it to book the official Microsoft exam.
The discount is exclusively available to premium DataCamp subscribers, so make sure your student subscription is active while you study.

Option 1: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)

The AZ-900 is an official Microsoft certification that measures your knowledge of cloud computing concepts and Azure architectural components such as computing, networking and storage. It also covers tools to secure, govern and administer Azure.

  • Track: Azure Fundamentals skill track on DataCamp.
  • Size: 4 courses, about 8 hours.
  • Who it is for: Anyone interested in the cloud. No prior Azure or cloud knowledge is needed, and no coding is required.
  • How the track helps: It was developed with Microsoft and mapped to the official exam content, covering containers, virtual machines, role-based access control, pricing calculators and more, with hands-on practice in Azure.

Option 2: Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300)

The PL-300 is an official, paid Microsoft certification. It measures your ability to prepare data, model data, visualize and analyze data, and deploy and maintain assets in Power BI.

  • Track: Data Analyst in Power BI career track on DataCamp.
  • Size: 17 courses, about 48 hours.
  • Who it is for: People working as, or wishing to work as, a data analyst or business analyst. A great way to show your Power BI skills to employers.
  • How the track helps: It was developed with Microsoft and teaches hands-on skills in Power Query, DAX, data modelling and more.

How you receive the discount

Once you complete the full track, you become eligible for a 50% discount code.

  • Microsoft sends codes in batches, which DataCamp distributes by email.
  • It can take up to 3 days after finishing the final course to receive your code. If it has not arrived after 3 days, contact DataCamp Support.
  • The email includes an expiration date. You will have between 3 and 6 months to use the code.
  • The email also links to Microsoft's guide on how to redeem the voucher.

Things to know

  • Finishing the track is not the certification. You still have to book and pass the Microsoft exam to earn it.
  • Plan your timing. The free student subscription lasts 3 months, and PL-300 needs about 48 hours of course work, so start early.
  • Only the exam is discounted. The code gives 50% off the exam fee, not off DataCamp itself.
